Valstybės Investicinis Kapitalas has become the first to list its bonds under Nasdaq’s NDRI framework

UAB „Valstybės investicinis kapitalas” became the first company in the Nordic and Baltic capital markets to have its bonds included in the new Nasdaq European defense bond system.

The Nasdaq stock exchange has developed guidelines for financing defense projects and criteria for defense, resilience, and infrastructure bonds (Nasdaq Defense, Resilience, and Infrastructure Bond Criteria (NDRI)).  As a securities issuer, Valstybės investicinis kapitalas was assessed and found to meet all the requirements of the defense bond system.

State Investment Capital bonds have been included in the Nasdaq Vilnius Baltic bond list under the defense bond model. This step aims to increase transparency and ensure clear criteria for the financing of defense projects. Listed debt securities will have a label dedicated to the defense industry market. The new defense bond system will allow for more effective disclosure of mandatory information, provide investors with greater opportunities to assess risks and make responsible investment decisions.

UAB „Valstybės investicinis kapitalas“ has successfully distributed the first public bond issue worth EUR 25 million under the defense bond model, which is part of a EUR 400 million medium-term bond program guaranteed by the Republic of Lithuania. The company has committed to investing up to €71 million in the construction of the Rheinmetall factory in Lithuania, with the remaining amount to be invested in other defense and security initiatives.

Vaidas Daktariūnas, CEO of UAB „Valstybės investicinis kapitalas“, emphasized the growing confidence of investors in defense projects: “We are very honored to see that capital markets are opening up to defense projects. The current geopolitical situation is encouraging investors to place greater trust in these projects, recognizing their importance and potential. Investor confidence is a decisive factor in ensuring long-term security and stability in the region.”

About the Nasdaq NDRI model

The NDRI model enables companies and governments to effectively raise capital while strengthening defense capabilities and military preparedness. NDRI provides investors with comprehensive information about the defense sector, helping them make informed decisions and align their investment objectives.

To qualify for NDRI, bond proceeds must be used for projects that strengthen the defense, resilience, or infrastructure of EU or NATO member states or officially cooperating countries. Eligible categories include, but are not limited to: cyber security, weapons and ammunition, infrastructure, dual-use technologies, civil resilience programs, and the aerospace industry.
