Start of construction of “Rheinmetall” artillery shell factory

An official ceremony marked the start of construction of the Rheinmetall ammunition factory in Baisogala. UAB “Valstybės investicinis kapitalas” has already indirectly invested EUR 36.4 million in UAB “Rheinmetall Defence Lietuva”.

The new factory will be built on a 340-hectare width in the Radviliškis district. The factory will manufacture and fill 155 mm shell casings, with plans to produce tens of thousands of such shells per year. The total value of this investment project could reach up to €300 million. It is planned that the new company will employ at least 150 people.

The construction of the factory near Baisogala should be completed in 2026. Production is planned to start at the end of 2026. Depending on the number of orders, production volumes will be gradually increased from 2027. It should be noted that Lithuanian industrial representatives and suppliers will participate in both the construction of the factory and its operational activities.

UAB “Valstybės investicinis kapitalas” owns 49% of EPSO-G Invest shares. According to the joint establishment agreement of UAB “Rheinmetall Defence Lietuva”, 51% of the shares belong to the German defense industry giant “Rheinmetall AG”, 48% belong to “EPSO-G Invest”, and 1% belong to Giraitės arms factory. In total, UAB “Valstybės investicinis kapitalas” has already indirectly invested approximately €36.4 million in UAB “Rheinmetall Defence Lietuva”.
