STATE INVESTMENT CAPITAL

To help companies operating in Lithuania affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Republic of Lithuania decided to establish State Investment Capital, which established a fund to help the Lithuanian economy recover from the consequences of COVID-19 with state and capital market funds and measures to develop capital markets.

MANAGEMENT

Private limited liability company Valstybės investicinis kapitalas (VIKA) is a private legal entity with limited civil liability, the form of activity of which is a private limited company. The founder of the Agency is the State of Lithuania, represented by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania.

The aim of VIKA’s activities is to help medium-sized and large companies operating in Lithuania affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition to other financing instruments already in place for small and medium-sized enterprises, the fund intends to invest in medium-sized and large Lithuanian companies that have experienced financial difficulties that may jeopardize their business continuity.

The policy has been prepared in accordance with BDAR, the Law on Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Lithuania and other valid legal acts.

About us

In order to assist medium-sized and large enterprises operating in Lithuania affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Republic of Lithuania has decided to establish a fund consisting of a government contribution and possible contributions from international institutions and private investors.

Two companies were established to implement the fund: UAB "Valstybės investicinis kapitalas" and partner UAB "Valstybės investicijų valdymo agentūra".

The European Commission has adopted a temporary framework for State aid measures to support the economy during the current COVID-19 outbreak.

The European Commission has approved the establishment of the State Aid Fund for Business in Lithuania under the temporary state aid system.

UAB "Valstybės investicinis kapitalas" (VIK) was established.

The Minister of Finance and the Minister of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania approved the description of the activities of the State Aid Measures for Business.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has recognized the VIK as an agency.

Goals

In addition to other financing instruments already in place for small and medium-sized enterprises, the fund intends to invest in medium-sized and large Lithuanian companies that have experienced financial difficulties that may jeopardize their business continuity.

The fund also seeks to promote the development of the capital market by attracting institutional investors operating the funds to insure the investment returns of the fund’s participants.
